Shepley Band, a welcoming community wind band has a vacancy for a new Musical Director. We play a variety of styles and are proud of our inclusive, supportive and friendly ethos. As a community band, members are not required to audition.
The Role
Preparing and leading weekly rehearsals
Selecting a suitable repertoire
Supporting the musical development of the band
Encouraging players of all levels
Helping to maintain the positive and friendly atmosphere of rehearsals
Helping with recruitment of new players
Rehearsals and Performances
The band has rehearsals every Tuesday 7.30pm – 9.30pm at Shepley Methodist church.
During the summer we play in park bandstands. Also, in the lead up to Christmas, we do quite a few outside sessions, busking in small groups.
About You
We would expect the successful candidate to have training in conducting ensembles and to have knowledge of playing woodwind and/or brass instruments.
You should have excellent communication and rehearsal skills, to make the work fun and inspiring.
It would be a benefit for the successful candidate to have links with other groups for networking.
Remuneration
This is a paid position and you would be considered to be self-employed.
